​Hey. I'm Simon Crittle, an Australian-born writer, based in Colorado. I started my career as a newspaper reporter in Sydney before moving to New York. My eyewitness account of the 9/11 attack ran on the front page of the New York Post. I ended up as New York correspondent for Time Magazine before becoming a spokesman for the United Nations in Sudan. I also spent three years as press secretary to the Australian health minister. My book has sold more than 60,000 copies. ​I'm working on a new one. Stay tuned!

I am an independent consultant specializing in writing, editing, media advice and communications. Clients have included UN agencies UNICEF, UNFPA, WFP and Education Cannot Wait. Have worked with, Brooklyn Consulting (Nairobi), and the XPrize Foundation (Los Angeles). I have also written many articles for McKinsey & Company.

Provided consulting/media relations services for a major hospital in Denver, Colorado. I worked as communications director for Our Denver, a 2017 bond measure.I completed a four-month consultancy for the US Justice Department, producing and appearing in a webcast.

As the director of global communications, I often travel to field to develop content on our operations, spread across Africa, Asia and Latin America, interviewing our many entrepreneurs, describing their successes and sharing their experiences with a global audience.

I also write the annual report, regularly publish articles in the development press and on our website, edit many of our funding proposals and help prepare communications that come from the CEO. In 2023, I had three long-form guest articles run on Next Billion, a leading open forum website dedicated to publishing stories on business solutions within international development.

I help manage our communications officers, who are based in countries around the world, with advice and guidance, providing training and resources, and adding capacity when necessary.

I was the communications director and member of the executive leadership team. I was hired to plan and execute a crisis communication plan after a sustained period of negative press. Spokesman for WFP in Sudan during the Darfur crisis. Emphasis on escorting news crews into conflict-affected areas, shooting video, taking pictures and writing op-eds. One of my pictures ran on the front page of Le Monde, my video ran on NBC's national news show and an interactive web piece I made ran on the Guardian's website.
